The European Union has recognized the great cultural and economic importance of the video games and esports industries
On November 10, MEPs adopted a resolution to support video games and esports. Now they have to develop a long-term strategy for the development of industries.
Among the proposals that can be included in the strategy is an increase in investments in European gaming companies and the creation of an archive with the most culturally significant games. Officials also want to try to solve problems with loot boxes and contractual esports matches.
It is worth noting that the resolution is not binding, so it is not a fact that these initiatives will be implemented.
