A state center for the development of esports will be created in Russia

Until now, esports has not received stable support from the Russian authorities. Now the first state organization for the development of esports will appear in the country. Among its other tasks is the development of IT and robotics.

It will be called the resource center for the development of esports disciplines and sports programming. It will be created on the basis of the Coordination Center of the Ministry of Communications of the Russian Federation for Computer Technology. This is reported on the agency’s website. The timing of the launch of the new center is not called.

The Public Computer Sports Federation (FCS), leading software developers, hardware manufacturers, gaming platforms and representatives of the esports community will be invited to participate in the work of the resource center. The FCC, however, has not yet received any proposals from the Ministry of Communications. “We will send an official request to the organizers with a request to clarify the situation,” the federation quotes CyberSport.ru .

Goals of the resource center

The future organization has a very wide list of tasks. Support for esports and esports tournaments is just one of them.

Russia occupies a leading position in the development of the global esports community, and some domestic developments have managed to gain recognition from the profile audience. However, we see great potential in the further growth of the esports segment and we want to approach this issue comprehensively.

Among other goals:

  • development of sports programming and competitive robotics;
  • development of the export potential of domestic gaming projects;
  • involvement of citizens in the field of software and hardware creation, including in the gaming industry;
  • involvement of young people in sports through esports, popularization of a healthy lifestyle.

The latter means that the center will support the creation of Olympic sports simulators and virtual simulators, as well as the development of “neurogaming” (whatever that means).

Resources will also be allocated for educational courses and research programs. Including for the development of simulators of complex equipment (from underwater vehicles to aircraft) and digital production simulators in extreme conditions. The center will also help in the preparation of contestants in programming and cybersecurity competitions.

The main emphasis in further work will be placed on the educational part of the project in order to form the necessary competencies for the younger generation that will allow creating high-quality IT products that can compete with foreign analogues.

The authors of the project expect that eventually it will stimulate:

  • the growth of the number of game developers;
  • the growth in the number and quality of gaming startups;
  • improving the performance of Russian teams at esports tournaments, including international ones.

Also note: last week Russia became a full member of the European Esports Federation. In total, the organization has 22 countries.
