Adobe acquired Mixamo
On June 1, Adobe announced the acquisition of Mixamo Studio, specializing in the sale of ready-made three-dimensional models and animations for them.
The amount of the transaction is not reported.
Adobe explains its move with the desire to integrate the functionality of Mixamo services into Photoshop CC in order to “enable designers to create, customize, manipulate, assemble and animate three-dimensional content.”
Editor’s note: In light of this deal, we are more interested in whether Mixamo will continue to exist as a separate set of services? The fact is that at the moment it is one of the cheapest tools that allow you to quickly assemble/animate a high-quality three-dimensional model for your product without much hassle or without knowledge in three-dimensional graphics.
Plus, it’s unclear whether Mixamo will continue its collaboration with Epic Games and Unity, in which stores it sells its models (by the way, Unreal 4 subscribers have free access to some of Mixamo’s characters and animations).
