Unity: we are not for sale

In mid-September, just against the background of then-rumors about Microsoft’s plans to buy Mojang, information appeared that, they say, Unity is also looking for a “host”. The amount was called within the framework of $1 billion – $2 billion.

Unity не продается

Last week, the world media returned to this topic again. The reason was the emergence of a rumor about the existence of a short presentation in which Unity is presented as a company for sale.

Yesterday, speculation on this topic was finally given an official response by the company’s management. Joachim Ante, CTO Unity, stated on the official forum of the engine that the company does not plan to be sold to anyone.

Our response [to a purchase offer from other firms] has always been: it’s best for Unity to remain an independent company. So it was 10 years ago, so it remains today.”

Joachim explained the occurrence of rumors by the fact that sometimes, as part of negotiations on cooperation with a particular platform, the other side starts talking about acquiring Unity.
