100 Unity applications are installed every second in the world
The head of Unity, David Helgason, revealed some figures at the Unite 2013 conference in Vancouver. According to him, every second users of mobile devices install about 100 applications on the Unity engine, i.e. an average of 10 million per day.
Since the company has only the data that the developers shared with them (or rather, some of them), the figures may well be much higher. David suggested that Unity could well have 20 million downloads every day, which is about 10% of all installations across all platforms.According to Helgason’s calculations, the total downloads of Unity applications for this year will be from 3.5 billion to 7 billion.
The company also noted the success of the Asset Store component store, which has 400 thousand developers in its ranks. According to Helgason, new products are added to the already existing 8 thousand items every day.
It was estimated that the monthly profit of the most active store seller is $90 thousand. Therefore, there is a growing number of developers from large studios who decide to leave in order to earn money on their own on the Asset Store.
