Meta has introduced advanced AI tools designed for game creation, enabling users to construct 2D and 3D games through simple prompts on both mobile and web interfaces.

During the recent Meta Connect conference, the company launched Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, which leverage the capabilities of the Meta Horizon Engine to facilitate game development. They are tailored for mobile and browser use, respectively, with a unified backend that permits seamless transition of resources and developments across both platforms.

Meta highlighted the difficulty of traditional game development, noting it often requires significant time, costly equipment, and expert knowledge. Horizon Create and Horizon Studio simplify the process, enabling users to easily conceptualize and produce games on Meta platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Users input descriptive text about their desired game and the AI-powered Meta Horizon Engine generates a playable version that can be shared on social media.

Reports from MobileGamer.biz detail that selected creators are currently trialing these tools, aided by financial backing from the Meta Horizon Creator Fund. A phased rollout will offer early access, with further information on game monetization to be disclosed later.

In a similar move earlier this year, Roblox introduced AI functionality in its Studio, allowing text prompts to transform into game blueprints for implementation and testing.

Additionally, Meta announced the release of new VR Glasses at the Meta Connect conference, compatible with Unity software from the outset.

The lightweight VR Glasses, boasting a 5K infinite display through micro-OLED technology, surpass the Meta Quest 3 in portability by eliminating straps and excess bulk.

These VR Glasses collaborate with Unity 6.6, utilizing OpenXR to facilitate the migration of existing Quest projects. Developers can employ tools like the XR Interaction Toolkit, XR Hands, and XRI Simulator for game development and testing.

Various studios, including Animal Repair Shop, Schell Games, Amata K.K., Nerd Ninjas, Within, Soul Assembly, Marvelous Inc., and Grounding Inc., are actively creating content for the VR Glasses using Unity.

The VR Glasses are slated for release in Spring 2027 with a retail price of $1,299.99.
