Mobile publisher Supersonic has been purchased by Tripledot Studios from Unity for a sum of $40 million.

Earlier this year, Unity disclosed its intention to sell Supersonic after it terminated its IronSource network, as reported here.

Supersonic was integrated into Unity in 2022 as a result of a merger with IronSource, a transaction valued at $4.4 billion.

The company will maintain its operations independently under the Tripledot Group name, with its existing leadership continuing to run it from their Tel Aviv headquarters.

Supersonic's CEO, Igor Bereslavski, expressed to GamesBeat that joining Tripledot provides a specialized environment designed for scalable game publishing, supported by robust capital, technology, and skills in user acquisition.

Bereslavski stated that Supersonic's collaboration with Tripledot will enhance the company's capability to assist their developer partners in launching successful games, emphasizing that the support structure for these partners remains unchanged, only now it's amplified by greater resources.

Lior Shiff, Tripledot's co-founder and CEO, commented on how the evolution of AI in game development has shifted challenges for small studios from the creation of games to the marketing and distribution to large audiences.

Shiff noted that publishers like Supersonic serve to resolve this issue, highlighting their experience in this domain and the potential for growth alongside Lion Studios to assist more studios across diverse markets with advanced technology. He warmly welcomed Supersonic into the Tripledot Group.

Previously, in a strategic move, Tripledot acquired the mobile games division of AppLovin for $800 million, which expanded its reach to markets such as the US and Asia, incorporating ten additional studios.

Unity has recently reported exceptional financial results, marking their most successful quarter yet, attributed to their focus on the core game engine and the AI-driven Vector platform for advertising and user acquisition, as detailed here.
