Unity has introduced specific engine support designed for Netflix platforms, providing a streamlined process for developers to deliver their games within the streaming service's ecosystem. This new support aims to aid developers by optimizing cloud gaming and enabling cross-platform capabilities, thereby simplifying gameplay access for users.

Netflix has consistently collaborated with Unity on various projects over the years, including games like Black Mirror: Thronglets, Unhinged, and Squid Game: Unleashed, all of which utilize the engine.

The Night School Studio, a subsidiary of Netflix, has employed the Unity engine in its recent game developments. Previously, the studio emphasized its application of numerous Unity features, particularly highlighting the use of the "physics engine for rapid prototyping and idea generation," during the making of Black Mirror: Thronglets.

In addition, Unity has revealed its latest iteration, Unity 7, which is poised to start beta trials in December and is set for a full launch in the first quarter of 2027. This new version maintains continuity with its predecessor, Unity 6, and introduces enhancements that are already integrated and validated in production environments.

According to Adam Smith, Unity's Senior Vice President of Product, the underlying structure remains unchanged during the version upgrade, ensuring that existing workflows remain entirely supported and allowing teams to transition effortlessly.
