The Russian authorities will take into account the suggestions of the Russian Video Industry (RVI) when developing measures to support the gaming industry

A month ago, the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVI) prepared a document with a strategy to strengthen the Russian game development sector for the next ten years. The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia recently reviewed it.

As reported by TASS, Dmitry Nikitin, Director of the Information Technology Industry Development Department of the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia, wrote a letter to RVI Chairman Vasily Ovchinnikov. He stated that the ministry had reviewed the strategy and "will take it into account" when working on state support for the industry.

Nikitin's specific comments regarding RVI's strategy are not included in the TASS article, so it remains unclear what the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia thinks about it and how seriously they take the association's proposals.

Recall that RVI aimed to cover different directions in their strategy for developing game development in Russia: from creating a favorable investment environment to regular interaction between game companies and the authorities. For example, it suggested offering domestic developers tax breaks for at least the period needed to produce one game, which is about 3-5 years. Other RVI ideas include assistance with going public, strengthening anti-piracy efforts in the country, and providing subsidies for the localization and promotion of Russian games abroad.

Updated: RVI's strategy will also be considered by the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
