Epic has unveiled a collaboration aimed at integrating Unity games into Fortnite

A significant collaboration between Epic Games and Unity has been unveiled, with developers soon able to release Unity games within Fortnite. This was announced at Unity's Unite conference.

The deal includes the integration of Unreal Engine support into Unity's platform. By next year, game creators will have the capability to handle "pricing, promotions, and live operations" using Unreal tools.

More updates and details regarding the products will be disclosed in 2026.

"We are thrilled to join forces with Epic Games, providing enhanced opportunities for game creators globally," stated Matt Bromberg, president and CEO of Unity. He emphasized the importance of diversification and open systems for growth in the gaming sector.

Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games, noted: "In order to construct an open metaverse that is both interoperable and equitable, collaboration, much like the early internet days, is essential."

He elaborated that this alliance with Unity aims to help developers craft enjoyable games, expand their audience reach, and achieve success.

During a discussion with The Verge, Sweeney mentioned this venture will significantly grow the developer community.

He further clarified that there will initially be a review mechanism to ensure that Fortnite content aligns with the tools from either engine.

"As the system fully opens, we will only review content hosted by us," Sweeney mentioned, adding that the objective is to allow developers free access to distribute content online akin to current web browsing practices.
