GDEV has acquired the casual game development studio Light Hour Games, founded by the former head of product at Belka Games

The details of the deal have not been disclosed — neither the amount nor the conditions are known.

Light Hour Games is a small, young Cypriot studio specializing in the development of mobile casual games with active use of AI.

The startup's motto is: “From tools to processes — we apply AI wherever it will help us move faster, improve, and take our games to the next level.”

The studio’s first two projects were released a year ago: the casual games Tile Foodies: Match & Collect and Match Foodies: Collect & Cook. Judging by the screenshots, it is obvious that the art for them was created with the help of neural networks.

Light Hour Games was founded by Konstantin Mitrofanov, who previously led RJ Games (formerly Rocket Jump) and worked as Head of Product at Belka Games, and Ilya Nikitin, who has over five years of experience leading the digital agency ART3D and managerial experience at MYGAMES, RJ Games, and Nexters.

“With Light Hour Games joining our GDEV family, we are acquiring a talented team whose compact structure, extensive industry experience, and advanced AI tools perfectly complement our growth strategy,” commented Andrey Fadeev, CEO of the GDEV holding, on the acquisition.
