Apple has purchased a game development studio for the first time
For the first time in history, the corporation Apple has included a game studio. This studio is the Canadian RAC7, consisting of just two people.
Sneaky Sasquatch
The deal was initially reported by Digital Trends. An Apple representative confirmed the purchase in a media comment but offered no details, so neither the amount nor the full terms are known.
According to the Apple representative, the corporation intends to assist RAC7 in developing their main hit—Sneaky Sasquatch, a mobile game about the Sasquatch. Released in 2019, this title became one of the first exclusives for the Apple Arcade service and quickly gained popularity. Last year, the head of Apple Arcade, Alex Rofman, noted that although years have passed since the release of Sneaky Sasquatch, the game is still in high demand.
Purchasing RAC7 is unlikely to indicate that Apple will start acquiring other game teams. Apple stated that the deal with the developers of Sneaky Sasquatch is unique for the corporation. Nevertheless, Apple will continue to collaborate with third-party studios to create games for Apple Arcade.
