Codfish Academy launches training center for Unreal Engine

A new institution, Codfish Academy, focusing on game development using Unreal Engine, has been established in Portugal.
Situated within Parque Tecnológico de Óbidos, the academy was established by Oliver Kern, Ricardo Flores Santos, and Kadri Harma.
The founders bring more than five decades of industry expertise, having held roles at Kokku, Nine66, and Lockwood Publishing.
The Academy launched its online courses, concentrating on AI, immediately upon opening, with plans to roll out in-person programs ranging from three to nine months in October 2025.
The curriculum will encompass a broad range of Unreal Engine topics, from the basics to more intricate techniques, equipping learners with vital skills through the guidance of expert instructors.
CEO Ricardo Flores Santos remarked that Codfish Academy aims to equip aspiring game developers with essential skills, connections, and the assurance needed to thrive in a dynamic field.
He expressed the intent to connect academic learning with the practical demands of the industry.
Miguel Silvestre, the executive director of Óbidos Parque, shared his excitement about the Academy joining the park, highlighting its significance in advancing Óbidos as a center for game development and digital arts.
