With the support of the Mordovia leadership, the development of a spiritual successor to "Truckers" has begun. One of the producers is a co-author of the original game
We rarely write about announcements. However, we couldn't pass this one by for several reasons.
Art for the game "Off-Road Commanders"
Firstly, the game is officially being developed not only with the support of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia but also, as noted in the official press release, with the personal backing of the region's head — Artem Zdunov.
Exactly how this support and backing manifest is unknown. Nevertheless, in the gaming industry, projects are rarely created with the help of officials.
Secondly, the upcoming project, called "Off-Road Commanders," has an intriguing team. The developer is a young Saransk studio named "Foxhound."
- The CEO of the studio is Alexander Gorbachenko. From 2009 to 2017, he led the Russian Federation of Computer Sports, and later, the Moscow Federation of Computer Sports.
- The lead producer of the studio is Alexander Zezyulin, who for a long time was the operating director of the R&D department at Wargaming (including producing Master of Orion).
- The head of the expert group at the studio is Evgeny Rusak, who, according to "FederalPress," is an expert in international environmental programs.

The third point that caught our attention is the involvement of Dmitry Zakharov as one of the producers of "Off-Road Commanders."
Zakharov was credited as the creator of the original "Truckers" series, as well as a producer and head of the testing group for the first part of the heavy truck driving simulator.
Speaking of the project itself, it will be a multiplayer game about truck racing across Russia. Key features of the project include:
- Detailed realization of rally tracks in the Volga region, Western Siberia, the Altai Mountains, the Barguzin tract, and many other areas;
- The ability to replace and upgrade parts in a virtual garage;
- The option to complete routes in various ways (on roads with fast cars, off-road with slow but highly passable vehicles).
The release date of the project is still unknown. According to the studio employees' profiles on LinkedIn, the project might be developed on Unreal Engine.
