Atelico's latest AI Engine operates without the need for "prohibitively expensive cloud solutions"

Studio Atelico, a gaming startup, has introduced a new AI Engine designed to empower game developers with Generative AI capabilities that operate directly on devices. This approach eliminates the need for costly cloud solutions, revolutionizing how game experiences are delivered.

The Atelico AI Engine aims to drastically cut costs and provides developers with enhanced control and adaptability, thanks to its modular framework. More details about the engine can be found on the Atelico website.

To demonstrate its capabilities, the team has created a technical demonstration, known as Generative Agents Realtime Playground (GARP). This demo operates locally on an Nvidia RTX 3090, showcasing real-time performance without extra expenses. Developers claim it is straightforward to integrate into game engines and serves as a powerful resource for developing immersive, responsive gaming universes.

Piero Molino, CEO of Studio Atelico, remarked on the transformative potential of GenAI, stating, "The revolution is upon us. GenAI is enabling new interactive experiences that have never been possible before." He noted that the prevailing large-model strategies employed by Cloud AI providers are ill-suited for the gaming industry, as they impose high costs and lack precise control.

Molino further explained their unique solution: an AI Engine for video games that resolves these issues by functioning on the player's device. The Atelico AI Engine equips developers with a modular toolkit compatible with platforms such as Unreal, Unity, and Godot, thus democratizing the use of GenAI across the gaming development landscape.
