A bill entitled "On the Development and Distribution of Video Games in the Russian Federation" was officially submitted to the State Duma

We wrote in detail about the bill this morning, but for now, let us note that the published final version does not differ in its main points from the one shared with the editorial staff the previous day. However, there is a nuance.

The document now includes an explanatory note. Let's briefly go over what new information is conveyed in it.

According to the explanatory note, the adoption of the bill "will contribute to achieving the goal of ensuring the psychological safety of citizens from the negative impact of video games."

It is explicitly stated that the purpose of the bill is to establish restrictions on the development and distribution of video games to protect the morality, rights, and legitimate interests of Russian citizens.

The note concludes by stating that the adoption of the bill:

  • will not entail negative consequences for business entities;
  • will not require the allocation of additional budget funds;
  • will not affect the revenues or expenses of the budgets of the budgetary system of the Russian Federation;
  • will not affect the achievement of the goals of state programs of the Russian Federation.
