Gaijin Entertainment: "The Dagor engine is faster than Unreal Engine 5 and delivers visuals that are not worse, and subjectively even better"

Gaijin Entertainment has released a video comparing the capabilities of the Dagor Engine and Unreal Engine 5. The company's conclusion is that its engine is just as capable as the giant from Epic Games.

The video showcases a scene with the demo map East District, inspired by the iconic Dust II from Counter-Strike. It was created for a yet-to-be-announced game from Gaijin Entertainment.

The map was initially developed using assets from the Megascans library for Unreal 5. Then, it was transferred to the Dagor Engine.

The team clarified that no tools for enhancing graphics, optimization, or frame generation like DLSS or FSR were used during the transfer. Only assets and terrain textures were added. "We deliberately used mostly automatic export steps," the press release states.

Considering these factors, the company confidently asserted that the Dagor Engine demonstrates better "raw" performance compared to its competitor.

To avoid criticism, Gaijin Entertainment acknowledged that this comparison couldn’t be considered entirely fair — "one to one."
