The beta version of Nau Engine has been released to the public
Today marks the launch of the open beta test for the domestic game engine Nau Engine.
This is an open source project under the 3-Clause BSD license, which allows developers to freely manage the source code of Nau Engine. When publicly distributing projects under this license, they are required to retain a disclaimer about copyrights and a waiver of liability for any potential software issues.
Representatives of Nau Engine emphasize that members of the game development community can:
- adapt the basic version of Nau Engine to their needs, up to creating their own game engine based on it;
- use the built-in features of Nau Engine in both commercial and non-commercial projects;
- develop games using the available tools;
- expand the engine's capabilities and add new features that weren't initially available;
- apply the engine for research purposes.
Alongside the engine, developers have released a Language-agnostic system—a tool for working with scripts in different languages within a single project. This means you can now write code not only in C++ and C#, on which Nau Engine is based.
According to the team, the system "can function as an external library for the engine itself, and as a standalone finished product ready for use in the IT sector, including outside video game development."
The full release of the engine is scheduled for late 2025.
