Unity has named Steve Collins, a former executive at King, as its new Chief Technology Officer
Unity has revealed that Steve Collins has taken on the role of its chief technology officer.
According to his professional history, Collins was CTO at King from February 2020 until March 2024. He has also been involved with middleware company Havok and led at the mobile marketing platform Swrve.
Collins's career also includes founding a computer graphics research initiative at Trinity College Dublin and creating its MSc course in computer game technology.
"For nearly two decades, I've watched Unity transform the gaming and real-time 3D development landscape," Collins stated. He expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the proficient Unity Engine team to enhance Unity's offerings for its community.
Matthew Bromberg, Unity's CEO and president, remarked that Collins brings outstanding technical insight into gaming and marketing technology, understanding developers' requirements. Bromberg emphasized Collins's significant role in propelling further innovation and stability within their organization.
Collins succeeds Marc Whitten, who departed earlier this year, as outlined in a report. The departure reason was not disclosed. Whitten previously served as the chief product and technology officer for Create at Unity, whereas Collins will oversee the CTO responsibilities across the entire business.
