Epic Games will charge lower royalties for game developers using Unreal Engine if they release their titles directly on the Epic Games Store (EGS)

Epic Games has announced the Launch Everywhere with Epic program. It is aimed at developers creating games using the Unreal Engine.

Participants in the program will have their royalty rate reduced from 5% to 3.5% on all platforms, including consoles. This discount is available to developers whose games are released on the Epic Games Store simultaneously with or earlier than their release on other app stores.

Important: The royalty rate will return to 5% if a developer decides to port their game to PC or Android and ignores the Epic Games Store version, releasing the title solely in a third-party store. However, developers can continue to publish exclusively on the iOS App Store without losing the discount, as Epic Games believes Apple has created unfavorable conditions for teams submitting games to competing stores.

The program will commence on January 1, 2025. As the launch date approaches, Epic Games promises to provide more details on the conditions so developers can prepare accordingly.
