Epic Games plans to lower its Unreal Engine royalty charge from 5% to 3.5% for developers releasing eligible Unreal titles on the Epic Games Store simultaneously or before they do on other platforms. This new program, named "Launch Everywhere with Epic," will commence on January 1, 2025.

The discount applies to platforms that support the Epic Games Store, including PC, Mac, and Android, with future plans for iOS integration. Developers who launch their games on the Epic Games Store will also receive the royalty discount if their games are launched on consoles concurrently.

Epic specified that the royalty will return to 5% if the Unreal Engine game is available on another PC or Android store without being present on the Epic Games Store for the same platform.

"Amidst intense margin pressures in the gaming industry, we’re enhancing our engine and store conditions to help developers engage larger audiences with better terms," Epic stated in a press announcement.

Recently, Epic Games initiated another lawsuit against Google and Samsung, contending that Samsung's Auto Blocker obstructs access to alternative app stores, conflicting with a prior jury decision.

Update: Epic Games has shared additional details regarding the criteria for receiving the reduced royalty rate. The information above has been updated accordingly.
