Campfire secures $3.95 million for its generative AI engine, Sprites
Generative AI tool developer Campfire has successfully secured $3.95 million in funding for its newest AI engine known as Sprites.
As reported by Venturebeat, the seed investment round included backing from Y Combinator, FundersClub, Immad Akhund of Mercury, gaming investor Juha Paananen, and Chris Ye, founder of Uken Games.
Campfire is working on a new game, Cozy Friends, to highlight the potential of their technology. This game will feature characters that can recall past interactions, retain vital information on various topics, and exhibit a high degree of emotional intelligence influencing the conversation. This ensures each player will have a unique experience.
Siamak Freydoonnejad, co-founder, mentioned that the debut game, which is free to start and includes over 26 "conversational agent NPCs," already has over 20,000 people on its waiting list.
Juha Paananen remarked, "The transition to AI-based games marks the most significant leap in gaming since the introduction of 3D. I was truly amazed when I viewed the demonstration. We believe this tech will revolutionize gaming and entertainment, with Campfire leading the charge through Cozy Friends and enabling other developers to follow suit utilizing Sprites."
