Media: Bungie Fired Head of Marathon Development After Complaints from Female Employees

In March 2024, it became known that the head of the upcoming shooter Marathon, Chris Barrett, left Bungie after 25 years of service. Bloomberg revealed that Barrett was dismissed due to inappropriate behavior.

According to Bloomberg's sources, at least eight female employees at Bungie filed complaints against the developer earlier this year. They reported that Barrett flirted with them, sent numerous text messages that "blurred the lines between work and personal life," suggested playing "Truth or Dare," and hinted that he could help them climb the career ladder.

In a comment to Bloomberg, Barrett stated that he always treated his colleagues with respect and did not believe his messages could cause discomfort. He apologized to those who felt uncomfortable interacting with him.

Sony, Bungie's parent company, declined to comment on the situation with Barrett. They only noted that they take all complaints about inappropriate behavior very seriously.
