Nintendo does not plan to use generative AI in game development

While more and more gaming companies are adopting generative artificial intelligence in their production processes, Nintendo prefers to stay away from such technologies. At an investor meeting, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa stated that generative AI could lead to copyright issues.

Furukawa added that Nintendo is actively interested in modern technologies, but does not make them its top priority. The uniqueness of the games they create is far more important for the company.

Furukawa also noted that non-generative AI technologies have long been used by game developers, for example, to control the movements of enemy characters. He sees no harm in such tools.
