Lord of the Rings: Gollum developer Daedalic Entertainment joins Nacon in €53 million deal
Nacon has announced the biggest acquisition in its history. The company will acquire indie developer and publisher Daedalic Entertainment for the maximum price of €53 million.
Daedalic will receive €32 million in cash right after the deal’s closure, with additional earn-out to be paid until 2026 based on its performance. The acquisition is expected to close in 2022.
Carsten Fichtelmann and Stephan Harms will continue to run Daedallic as CEO and COO respectively. They will also have a “high degree of autonomy” in development and publishing.
Through this acquisition, Nacon plans to strengthen its position in the AA segment, with Daedalic getting additional support for its upcoming projects.
Daedalic Entertainment, founded in 2007, has more than 90 games in its portfolio, including Deponia, Shadow Tactics, and Blackguards. The company is now working on Lord of the Rings: Gollum, an action-adventure game, which will be co-published by Nacon.
