Head of Larian Studios: During the development of Baldur's Gate 3, there were crunches, but very few

At the Digital Dragons conference, Larian Studios director Swen Vincke admitted that while creating Baldur’s Gate 3, studio employees occasionally had to work overtime. However, there was significantly less crunch compared to previous games.

According to Vincke, developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 “very, very, very rarely” stayed at work past 8 PM or worked on weekends. Larian Studios provided extra pay for those who worked overtime.

Vincke noted that Larian Studios made an effort to minimize crunch time. It helped that the studio's offices are located in countries with different time zones. As a result, Larian Studios was able to maintain a 24-hour development cycle.
