In Russia, it was proposed to make the use of the NAU Engine a prerequisite for state support of games
The companies that are part of the Game Services Development Competence Center under the Ministry of Finance have prepared a roadmap for the development of the gaming Industry from 2024 to 2030. According to it, by 2026, Russian game developers may be required to use the NAU Engine if they want to receive funding from the state.
This is reported by the newspaper Kommersant, which received access to the document.
Other proposals in the roadmap:
Starting from 2024, it is mandatory to pre-install VK Play and RuStore on devices sold in Russia;
create an export commission under the Ministry of Finance, a PRIORI Association or ANO “Digital Economy”, which will help the games selected by it to be published outside of Russia;
▪️in 2024-2025, conduct research on loot boxes and other in-game mechanics;
Establish a new profile department in the Ministry of Finance, as well as a committee in the State Duma;
▪️open accelerators for gaming startups on the basis of universities, update curricula and create a unified teacher training program.
The Ministry of Finance in a comment to Kommersant reported that it will take into account the proposals from the roadmap while working on measures to support the Russian gaming industry.
