The release of the open Godot 4.0 engine took place

On March 1, Godot developers announced the full release of the fourth version of their open source engine. Work on it went on for four years.

The developers said that over the years they had to completely rewrite the engine. They have 17 alpha versions, 17 beta versions and six release candidate versions on their account. They added that, despite the release of Godot 4.0, they are not going to give up support for Godot 3.

The list of innovations is quite large. For example, Godot 4.0 added Vulkan support, implemented SDFGI technology, replaced GIProbe with VoxelGI, added Godot XR tools and transferred the engine to the platform.NET 6.
