Rostec wants to develop a game engine. He turned to the Ministry of Finance for support
Rostec can develop a domestic game engine. Sergey Chemezov, the head of the state corporation, asked the Ministry of Finance to support the initiative and help with financing. In particular, he offered to transfer the funds of the Rosinfokominvest fund to Rostec.
This is reported by Kommersant. Initially, the newspaper received information from a source close to the ministry, but later the fact of negotiations was confirmed by the Ministry of Finance itself, as well as the RFRIT fund, which is supposed to finance the creation of the Russian engine.
Representatives of Rostec explained in a comment for Kommersant that the state corporation hopes to improve its image with the help of the engine. They also noted that according to the plan, their engine can be used not only for games, but also for VR projects, cinema, industry, education, etc.
So far, the Ministry of Finance is not sure that they will allocate money to Rostec. Officials indicated that it was “not obvious” to them why in this case it was public investments that were needed, and not funds from third-party funds. However, they are considering the offer.
