Unreal Engine will take royalties only from projects that have earned more than $ 1 million
As part of the announcement of Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games announced changes to the licensing policy. Now she will take royalties for using the engine exclusively from those games that have already earned their first million dollars.
If the product is monetized, but its revenue does not reach the coveted figure, it actually turns out to be free for the team. As for the millionaire games, the situation has not changed for them. They will still have to pay 5% of the game revenue.
In the event that the team is not going to sell its products, for example, it makes a game to order, then the engine costs it absolutely free. All deductions will have to be paid by the publisher, and even then, if he earns more than a million dollars.
