Adobe will stop supporting Flash in 2020

Support for the Flash multimedia platform will last until the end of 2020, Adobe reports.

The company explained this decision by saying that Flash is outdated and loses to open standards such as HTML5, WebGL and WebAssembly.

Adobe urged developers to use the next three years to migrate their products to open platforms.

Until then, Adobe intends to release updates for major operating systems and browsers, and will also strengthen the fight against the spread of unlicensed and outdated versions of Flash.

The company promised to develop HTML5 and WebAssembly, as well as continue to release software tools for creating animation and video editing.
