Unity Technologies is going to raise investments by $1.5 billion
The company that develops the Unity game development engine is engaged in raising funds. The amount of investments may amount to $1.5 billion.
It is expected that the deal will be closed within the coming weeks, Bloomberg reports (the progress of negotiations is also confirmed by VentureBeat). The money will be used to develop VR support.
Well, a few facts that can play a positive role in the decision of investors to invest in Unity Technologies:
- Unity’s user base has more than 5.5 million developers ;
- 30% of mobile games from the box office Top 1000 are made on Unity;
- Unity owns, according to various estimates, from 45% to 62% of the game engine market;
- More than 90% of Gear VR games are made on Unity.
