King is going to introduce its own engine and hires Oleg Pridyuk

The authors of Candy Crush Saga have announced that they are going to present their own Defold game engine as part of GDC 2016.

This was shared on his Twitter page today by Oleg Pridyuk, who also announced his transition to work at King as an evangelist.

Earlier, Oleg worked for a year and a half as an evangelist at Game Insight, and before that he was in the Unity team for almost six years — first as a mobile specialist, then as a technical evangelist.

Defold is a free cross—platform engine designed to create two-dimensional games. It supports writing scripts in Lua and contains an editor . It has been in development for six years now. One of the games made on it is Blossom Blast Saga.

Information about him on the web has slipped before, but the official presentation, as well as the announcement that Pridyuk is becoming part of the King team, may indicate that now the company intends to seriously take up his promotion.

The presentation of the engine within the framework of GDC will take place today at 19.30 Moscow time.
