MY.GAMES told where in Russia they teach how to develop games
The MY.GAMES brand found out that almost half of Russian gamers want to develop games, but for various reasons they can’t do it. Therefore, the company, together with FEFU, has prepared a list of programs that provide education in game development. The list includes universities, colleges and courses for children.
MY.GAMES interviewed 1.8 thousand Russians aged 10-45 years. It turned out that:
- the majority of respondents (62%) believe that they cannot build a career in game development due to the lack of the necessary experience. Other barriers often included the lack of acquaintances (33%) or a suitable education (27%), as well as lack of free time for retraining (24%).;
- 45% of people do not know where to start an education in the field of game development and how to get into the industry in general;
- 63% of the survey participants named the love of games as the main criterion for starting work in game development. Half of gamers believe that it is equally important to understand the target audience and have a quality education;
- as for education itself, for 51% of respondents it is important that they have the opportunity to study remotely. When choosing courses, 49% of people first of all look at whether an educational institution will help them with employment. 45% of players first evaluate the cost, and 45% — the program of the course.
In total, MY.GAMES and FEFU counted 136 educational programs related to the video game industry in Russia. Of these, 32 programs provide higher education, and 7 — specialized secondary education. The list also includes 55 professional courses, 23 advanced training or retraining courses and 19 courses for children.
