102 sessions per player per week in Puzzle & Dragons
“If you want your game to be visited more often, launch it on Android,” you might think if you read the latest report from analysts from Mobidia, who have been tracking engagement in leading mobile projects over the past year.
According to the study, with rare exceptions, Android games have higher engagement than iOS games. Analysts attribute this to the presence of more blockbusters on the App Store, which “increase fragmentation and reduce engagement based on each application.”
On Android, blockbusters come out with a noticeable delay, so big hits do not experience constant competition from them for the attention of users.
The only exception is Candy Crush Saga, whose engagement level is still higher on iOS than on Android. On average, a Candy Crush Saga player spends 4 hours a week playing the game.
“Everything is logical. There are more devices on Google OS in the world than smartphones and tablets from Apple. Yes, the competition on iOS is higher than on Android. In addition, do not forget that Android is an open platform, many people choose it just to play games. And most importantly, the DAU/WAU ratio strongly depends on the game itself, its features, genre and other elements. Therefore, I would not talk about the 100% validity of the statement that it is better to run the game, first of all, on Android,” the head of the gaming division commented on Mobidia’s research. Mikhail RyazanovPS Mobidia also said that, on average, one player per week in February of this year has 102 sessions per week in Puzzle & Dragons, 63 sessions per week in Clash of Clans and about 25 sessions per week in Candy Crush Saga.
The company also has its own platform for collecting mobile analytics and statistics.
