Results of the Winter Nights Conference: Mobile Games Conference
Last week, on February 8-9, the Winter Nights: Mobile Games Conference was held in St. Petersburg, dedicated to the development and promotion of mobile games.
It was attended by 600 people from 270 companies: developers, publishers and everyone who works in this industry.
For two days, the participants of the Winter Nights conference discussed how to create a game that millions will play, how to turn a mobile application into a profitable business and how to properly monetize games. The creators of Angry Birds, Clash of Clans, Diamond Dash, Galaxy on Fire and other world hits shared their secrets of success in the framework of the reports.
We summed up the results of 2012 separately, talked about the prospects of the mobile market and its trends. “When we talk about mobile games now, we no longer mean devices, it’s more like a whole approach to the development and support of games, it’s a full–fledged gaming service,” comments Pavel Ryakkonen, distribution director of Nevosoft.
Along with the reports, business meetings of developers with publishers of projects were held in parallel with the conference, at which developers had the opportunity to present their projects. The results of these meetings will become known literally in six months, with the release of the next hit level Rage of Bahamut and Cut the Rope.
In addition, two big announcements took place at once during the event: the company Mail.Ru The Group announced “Juggernaut 2”, and Fish Labs a turn-based strategy in the universe of the Galaxy on Fire series of games.
The first day of the conference ended with a hot party with an ice bar and prize draws from one of the sponsors of the conference, the i-Free company.
Each of the Winter Nights participants was able to bring out something valuable for themselves: new market opportunities, game monetization algorithms, someone found a producer for a promising project, someone enlisted personal contacts. This means that the need for events of such a plan is maximum. According to the organizers, the next White Nights: Mobile Games Conference will take place in 4 months, in June 2013!
