The number of country pavilions at Gamescom 2026 has surged by 25%, setting a new milestone for the event
Ahead of Gamescom 2026, nearly 50 national pavilions from 40 countries will be featured, showcasing increases of 25% and 14% over the previous year, respectively.
This year sees the arrival of new participants including Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria. Last year, there were 35 participating countries with 40 pavilions.
This edition will host over 1,600 exhibitors from 67 nations, marking a record-breaking third consecutive year for exhibitor registration, which hit record numbers during the March ticket release.
By July, all 233,000 square meters of exhibition space had been fully booked for the first time. This year's event includes the largest indie area to date, with participation from over 420 firms, marking a 16% increase from the previous year.
Prior to Gamescom, the Gamescom Dev conference will stage more than 380 speakers delivering 230 sessions across 18 stages. The initial speaker list features representatives from prominent companies like Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ubisoft, Insomniac Games, CD Projekt Red, and Epic Games.
"With Gamescom 2026 nearing, the expectations are at an all-time high," stated Felix Falk, managing director of the German Games Industry Association. "In addition to more exhibitors from 67 countries, an unprecedented number of country pavilions, a completely booked-out exhibition space, and the largest indie area yet – this year promises an unforgettable showcase celebrating the extensive diversity within the games culture," he noted.
"Additionally, the event will feature unique political engagements, such as a visit from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Together with the gaming community, we are poised for an extraordinary festival of games, both on-site in Germany and streamed to a global audience," Falk added.
Gerald Böse, president and CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH, remarked: "Gamescom 2026 reinforces its economic importance yet again, serving not just as a pivotal hub for the German gaming sector, but for European and global industries as well."
"The substantial demand underscores Gamescom's crucial position for businesses, institutions, and the international community. We anticipate an engaging week full of networking, professional discussions, premieres, diverse programming, and the unique energy from the gaming community worldwide," Böse stated.
Scheduled from August 26 to 30, Gamescom 2026 will be preceded by Gamescom Dev (previously known as Devcom) from August 23 to 25.
