At the "Gaming Industry" conference in Minsk, Yandex Games, Overmobile, VK Play, Axlebolt, RVI, and many others will be speaking

There's less than a month left until the "Gaming Industry" conference in the capital of Belarus — it will take place on April 22. Here, we discuss the event's speakers.

The conference program includes speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, traditionally held in three parallel streams. Representatives from leading Russian-speaking gaming companies, expert organizations, and platforms will take the stage.

Here's a closer look at some of them:

  • Andrey Karelin, Business Development Manager at VK Play, will discuss the economics of games and the importance of considering P&L (Profit and Loss) in project development and release;
  • Denis Pozdnyakov, co-founder of Contrast Games, will delve into the specifics of developing Metroidvania games. The team is expected to release their Metroidvania, Akatori, this year;
  • Vladimir Gerasimov, audio director of the shooter Standoff 2, will share how Axlebolt creates game design through sound;
  • Petr Salnikov, co-founder of Disgusting Men and Book Burner Games studio, will also touch on the topic of sound. He will discuss the importance of quality audio design in indie games and explain how his studio's project, Sonic Terror, sounds;
  • Vasily Ovchinnikov, Head of the Organization for the Development of the Video Game Industry (RVI), will present data on the Russian game development market;
  • Varvara Dunets, Product Lead and Strategic Partner at Kitchen941, will reveal how operational debt affects product and team. She will also explain why even successful games can suffer from managerial chaos;
  • Nikita Bokarev, Business Development Manager at Yandex Games, will discuss the platform's opportunities for developers;
  • Vitaly Moroz, author of Family Island and Game Director at Fernflower, will share how the addition of expedition mechanics in My Cafe increased the game's revenue by 50%;
  • Andrey Popovich, veteran of Wargaming and Press Fire Games, now a game designer at Bibamus, will present a talk on the key stages of game development. He will break down the features of each stage, from typical problems even experienced teams face to productivity-enhancing methods.

During the conference, attendees will not only listen to speakers but will also have access to other activities:

  • A panel discussion titled "The MVP That Made It: Building a Model for the First Profitable Product," moderated by Denis Sandakov, Marketing Director at Take Top Entertainment, with participants from HeroCraft, Overmobile, and Fernflower;
  • A panel discussion "Building the Gaming Industry Ecosystem: Personnel, Support Measures, Regional Hubs" featuring representatives from RVI, the Higher School of Economics, and the Yakutia Innovation Development Fund;
  • A large indie game exhibition — applications for participation are accepted until April 17. An audience choice award will be given during the showcase, determined by participant votes for the best game;
  • An indie pitch — a presentation of games before experts, followed by analysis. The creators of the best game will receive a million display opportunities on VK Play. Additionally, developers can win a PlayStation 5 console sponsored by Mirra Games. As with the exhibition, applications for the indie pitch can be submitted until April 17.

The Minsk session of the "Gaming Industry" will conclude with a large game development party for Premium ticket holders. It will be held at the La Scala Trattoria Ignazio restaurant located at 36 Nemiga Street, right in the city center.

Remember, tickets for the "Gaming Industry" in Minsk are currently available at a discount — they can be purchased at a reduced price until April 8. Prices will increase afterward.

More details about the program and other aspects of the upcoming event can be found on the "Gaming Industry" website.
