The Devcom Developer Conference will undergo a name change to become Gamescom Dev

The Devcom Developer Conference is set to be rebranded as Gamescom Dev, effective from October 2025.

This announcement was made on August 19, 2025, during the Keynote Stage. The change is intended to embed the event more deeply within the Gamescom brand, enhancing its stature in the global gaming community, according to a press statement.

Stephan Reichart, managing director of game events GmbH and the event's organizer, expressed enthusiasm about the transition. "Devcom’s evolution and its integration as an essential part of the Gamescom suite of sub-brands is exciting," he stated.

Reichart shared that over the years, Devcom has faced numerous challenges but has also experienced significant growth.

"Since the beginning, there was frequent curiosity about our connection to Gamescom's developer sector, prompting us to adopt the subtitle 'The official game developer conference of Gamescom.' Now, it is clear: Gamescom Dev is the hub for all developer-related content."

Since its inception in 2017, the event has been organized by game events GmbH, an affiliate of the German Games Industry Association (game), as the official developer segment of Gamescom.

This year, the conference is being held in Cologne, Germany, from August 17 to 19, preceding Gamescom’s official opening on August 20.

Featured sessions this year include panel discussions, keynotes, and workshops on a variety of subjects such as community management, game design, and mental health.

A major topic is artificial intelligence, with a pre-conference survey indicating diverse opinions among speakers regarding AI's role.

After the main event concludes, from August 20 to 22, there will be a Devcom booth within the B2B section of Gamescom.

Felix Falk, co-organizer of Gamescom and managing director of game, highlighted the conference's significance. "Devcom has quickly risen to become one of the primary gatherings for game developers worldwide," he noted.

Falk added, "Renaming it Gamescom Dev aligns more closely with other Gamescom formats, opening new avenues for collaboration and growth within the brand, helping us enhance our shared narrative."
