Commodore International Corporation has appointed Larry Hryb as a community development consultant

Larry Hryb has been named a community development consultant at Commodore International Corporation.

Hryb's responsibilities will include guiding the Commodore leadership on strategies to preserve and grow the brand's global community.

The historic Commodore brand was taken over last year by Christian Simpson, a YouTube creator known as Perifractic. Simpson, now steering the company as CEO and president, acquired the business to revive its legacy, as covered by PC Gamer.

Simpson remarked, "Larry initiated direct player communication through various media long before it became a typical practice in the gaming industry."

"Involving Larry to maintain engagement with both long-time fans and new audiences is essential as we breathe new life into Commodore."

Hryb commented: "Partnering with the community has always been my belief in what companies should do. Commodore's loyal following has created a unique situation in community interaction over the past 31 years."

He continued, "Instead of waiting, the community has innovated—a remarkable array of enthusiasts, developers, and more contributes to Commodore's legacy, ready to shape its future."

Hryb's prior position was as senior director of advocacy and community at Unity, which he joined in June 2024, according to GamesIndustry.biz. However, he was laid off earlier this year.

Before Unity, he spent over ten years as a senior director of corporate communications at Xbox, where he was popularly known as Major Nelson.

Starting at Microsoft in 2001 as editor-in-chief of MSN Music, Hryb transitioned to Xbox in 2003, playing a pivotal role in the launches of various Xbox platforms and serving as the host of the official Xbox podcast.
