In an effort to enhance global mental health awareness within the gaming sector, the charity Safe in Our World is introducing free mental health awareness workshops. These sessions are designed for community managers and developers who work to support the mental wellbeing of their communities.
Supported by Humble and led by Mind Fitness, these custom three-hour workshops aim to improve digital safety and wellness, expand understanding of mental health issues, and enhance confidence in directing individuals to appropriate mental health resources. Participants will learn stress management strategies and how to set up healthy online boundaries.
Andy Barker of Mind Fitness emphasizes, "The role of the Community Manager can feel boundless. Without clear guidelines, the pressures from both inside and outside can become overwhelming."
"It's crucial that we equip Community Managers with the necessary tools for self-care, empowering them to guide players to mental health resources and to disconnect after work hours," Barker stated.
Interested individuals can register on Eventbrite for one of the two sessions scheduled on October 9 and November 6, 2025.
Reflecting on her own experience, Em Aspinall, communications and events manager, said, "It’s amazing to think that my journey into mental health awareness began with this training from Mind Fitness and Safe in Our World back in 2021, when I was just starting out as a community manager."
"I highly recommend this workshop to any Community Manager, those in player-facing roles, or really anyone involved in games," Aspinall mentioned.
