Garry's Mod entered the Guinness World Records as the best-selling PC exclusive
Developer Garry Newman announced that his sandbox creation, Garry’s Mod, has been immortalized in the Guinness Book of Records. It has sold more copies than any other game released solely on PC.

Newman joked that he never imagined himself as a world record holder unless the record was related to eating prawn cocktail flavored crisps.

The developer did not disclose the current sales figures for Garry’s Mod. It is known that as of September 2021, they exceeded 20 million copies.
As a reminder, Garry’s Mod was released in 2006. Currently, Garry’s Mod ranks ninth among the games with the most reviews on Steam (according to Steam250 data). The sandbox has gathered over a million reviews, with 97% of them being positive*.
*The Garry’s Mod page on Steam lists slightly different data, noting that the game has 944 thousand reviews, 96% of which are positive. This discrepancy is because Steam only counts reviews from users who purchased the game directly through Steam. If a game key was bought from an external platform, that user's review is not included in the statistics.
