The CEO of Tantalus Keywords Australia resigns
Tom Crago has announced his resignation as the CEO of Tantalus and Keywords Australia.
In an exclusive with GamesIndustry.biz, Crago stated, "the time has come for me to step aside for new pursuits, and to leave space for others to lead."
Since the acquisition of Tantalus four years ago, which expanded the workforce from 38 to 330, Crago expressed pride in the company's growth, especially "during a tricky period" for the industry.
"It wasn't an easy choice to step down," Crago admitted. "Continuing with our well-established team as Keywords progresses under new leadership would have been easier. Both in Australia and abroad, our team's excellence and kindness are unparalleled in the industry."
Crago mentioned his involvement in diverse projects such as writing, art installations, academia, and avant-garde dining. After taking a break, he plans to explore these interests more creatively, grateful for the opportunities the gaming industry has provided.
While stepping down as CEO, Crago intends to contribute as "a mentor and sometime-advisor" for Keywords.
"I extend heartfelt thanks to our publishers, partners, and everyone who has enjoyed our games," Crago concluded. "I especially thank those who have worked alongside me over the past twenty-five years. We've accomplished something to be proud of, even when challenges made it difficult."
Effective January 1, 2025, Steve Dauterman and Tom Davies will assume new leadership roles.
Correction: The previously stated headcount for Keywords Australia was 130. The correct number is 330.
