Keywords Studios Buys Outsourcers Fortnite and Injustice: Gods Among Us for $50 million
High Voltage Software— an American studio with a 27-year history, has a new owner. The developer who participated in the creation of Fortnite, Mortal Kombat and the first Injustice will soon become part of the Keywords Studios group of companies. The deal will cost $50 million.
The purchase was announced on its website Keywords Studios. The company indicated that the transaction will most likely be completed only by the end of next year. This period is necessary for her to evaluate the efficiency of High Voltage Software.
The takeover will take place in two stages:
- Keywords Studios is ready to pre-pay $23.75 million in cash and $9.75 million in its own shares;
- By December 31, 2021, the group is going to transfer about $16.5 million more in cash and shares, depending on the indicators of High Voltage Software.
According to Andrew Day, CEO of Keywords Studios, the new acquisition will help the group expand its line of game development services and strengthen its position in the industry.
