"Reflecting on how to sustain my drawing career for many years to come, I opted to depart from Square Enix as last year closed," noted Itahana. "The 25th anniversary of FF9 was a monumental occasion, and I was overwhelmed with gratitude witnessing the celebrations from fans."

Following the completion of illustration and supervisory tasks related to this celebration, Itahana felt a profound fulfillment. This timing was ideal for concluding this phase of his career and pursuing new endeavors.

Having also worked on character designs for the Chocobo and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles spin-off series, as well as Nier Automata, Itahana plans to continue as a freelance illustrator and designer.

"I remain deeply thankful for the relationships fostered throughout my career," he remarked. "I intend to leverage my accumulated experience to create a diverse array of new art. At present, I am still orienting myself, seeking guidance and wisdom from established freelance artists. Encountering my future work would delight me, and I'd appreciate your support."

Itahana concluded his message by expressing gratitude to fans and his colleagues over the years.
