The Xbox Graphics leader faces criticism for incorporating an AI-generated image in a job advertisement

Xbox's graphics team is under scrutiny after using an AI-generated image in a job listing. The listing, shared on LinkedIn by Mike Matsel, drew interest for its recruitment of individuals skilled in areas like device drivers and GPU performance. However, the imagery used, likely crafted by generative AI due to issues such as mismatched shadows and incorrect layouts, has been controversial among artists.
This job advertisement has attracted widespread attention across LinkedIn and other platforms. One front-end developer criticized the timing, stating: "Creating an AI image for recruitment shortly after Xbox's significant workforce reduction to fund AI developments is perceived as tone-deaf by Mike and Xbox."
Another individual echoed these sentiments, labeling the move as "Unbelievably tone deaf. Embarrassing," and noting a lack of "self-awareness," verifying the authenticity of the account.
The post by Matsel is still active on LinkedIn. Recently, Microsoft commenced layoffs within its gaming sector, confirming speculations reported earlier. It is believed that over 9,000 employees were impacted by these cuts.
