The story is about how a CG artist learned programming and made a game for a million installations
A new week, a new video. This time about the history of the game Ailment. The game has an exceptional one. Its author was engaged exclusively in CG before development, he did not know programming. That didn’t stop him. In the process, he mastered C# and the Unity engine from scratch. In the end, everything worked out. Ailment was noticed by Apple, and Google called it one of the best indie releases of last year.
Now the game has a million installations. We talked about how it turned out with its author, Ivan Panasenko.
Among other things, we discussed:
- life in Spain;
- mastering programming during development;
- indie marketing through articles in the media and youtubers;
- downloads and sales of the game;
- features of advertising monetization;
- feature in Google Play and the Chinese press.
