App Annie acquired Distimo (UPDATE)

The analytical service Distimo has announced that it is becoming part of another analytical company, App Annie. 

This was announced today, May 28, by Distimo CEO Vincent Hoogsteder. As stated in the company's official letter: "...we believe that joining the App Annie team is the best step for us to create the most complete platform for analyzing the application market." 

App Annie CEO Bertrand Schmitt said that the Distimo team will be spread across App Annie's global offices. This will bring the size of the entire team to 240 people.

In addition to the deal, App Annie received investments of $17 million from venture capital funds IDG Capital Partners, Greycroft Partners and Sequoia Capital, which had previously invested in the company.  

UPDATE: Under the terms of the deal, the founders of Distimo will be placed in senior positions at App Annie. Distimo's headquarters, based in the Netherlands, will become the App Annie European research center.
