App Annie: so far they spend less on mobile games than on digital versions of games for other platforms

Yesterday, the analytical company App Annie published a large report on the digital market of mobile programs. We have highlighted the main theses concerning the mobile games market. 

So, the main conclusions of the study:

  • In 2013, users spent $16 billion on mobile apps for the App Store and Google Play. This is 2.3 times more than a year earlier.
  • In Japan, 4.4 times more was spent on mobile apps in 2013 than in 2012, and in South Korea – 5.8 times more. 
  • In the leading seven regions (USA, UK, Germany, France, Russia, Japan and South Korea), sales of digital versions of games are still significantly ahead of the total sales of games for mobile platforms. However, the market of the latter has almost tripled in a year.
