The Chinese mobile games market has earned more than $500 million in three months

In the third quarter of 2013, revenues from the Chinese mobile games market amounted to $587 million. This is 75% more than this market earned in the same period last year.

The drivers of growth in the period from July to September were:

  • summer holidays for schoolchildren and students
  • increase of marketing expenses by gaming companies
  • release of a number of casual puzzles on WeChat and QQ platforms
  • the arrival of Chinese PC title developers on the mobile platform
  • the emergence of non-gaming capital on the mobile market (non-gaming companies have started investing in mobile games)

A significant increase in the number of releases was also an important factor. In September alone, according to the 2013 China Android Game Distribution Channels Product Ranking (it took into account data from 9 Chinese stores), 584 games were released.

According to the results of September, in terms of DAU and session length, Tencent is the leader of the game. Games distributed with the support of WeChat are also very popular.
